Throughout the early years, children carefully watch and imitate, so it is the optimal time to teach good habits and values that will last a lifetime. Children are interested in what adults are doing and want to have purposeful work themselves – they also need plenty of time to safely explore the world and develop a rich imagination.
In later years, children combine their curiosity and compassion to better understand the world and offer solutions to problems.
“Where is the book in which the teacher can read about what teaching is? The children themselves are this book. We should not learn to teach out of any book other than the one lying open before us and consisting of the children themselves.”
Understanding how to educate the hands, heart and head, we at Bambujaya allow children enough time to develop skills, feelings and knowledge in age appropriate ways. In our Early Childhood Program, we encourage wonder and joy in the young child through the warmth and beauty of the classrooms, toys, the Arts, outdoor environment and our natural setting.
Our environment is welcoming and caring; our daily and weekly routines include baking, cooking, painting, handwork crafts, water play and discovery, games, outdoor play and housekeeping chores. All of this promotes the healthy growth of the child’s body, spirit and mind. Through bilingual circle activities and stories, children learn a variety of language, numeracy, social and practical skills.
