Admissions

Bambujaya Bilingual School

All families of prospective learners must first complete and return the learner application form, together with the enrolment fee and proof of the child’s date of birth and nationality (photocopy of passport/birth certificate). Interested families can collect our information pack, with the application form; alternatively it may be sent electronically after receipt of your enquiry.

Completed application forms (with the child’s previous school learning reviews/reports attached) should be returned to our office. Bambujaya will review your application form in accordance with our admissions criteria.

Bambujaya School Contact

After reviewing your application, prospective learners and their family will be invited to meet with our Director. Children aged four or over will have their Khmer and English proficiency assessed.

Before a final placement offer is made, the child is invited to class ‘taster’ time: this will allow the child, school and family to experience whether this placement is likely to be an all round fulfilling relationship. The Director may also arrange further discussions with a family.

Successful families then meet with the School Coordinator to discuss the fee schedule, along with any additional costs.(Please see Bambujaya fees)

Prospective learners will be placed on a waiting list for oversubscribed classes and contacted as soon as a place becomes available.

The Leadership Team will propose a date on which learners may begin classes, once their initial payment has been received.

Admission Criteria

1. Class Size

We limit learning facilitator to children ratio to 1:15 (Kindergarten: Pre-K, K1 & K2), 1:20 (Grades 1&2) and 1:24 (Grade 3 upwards). Should we receive an application for entry to a class which is already full, we will place the child’s name on the waiting list for that class, providing the enrolment fee has been paid.

2. Age of the Registering Learner

Please provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport with their registration form. We accept children into the class with their age group, but will occasionally make exceptions. If the child has been assessed by a relevant professional as having additional learning needs they might benefit from this arrangement if Bambujaya and the family agrees.

3. Nationality

As learning at Bambujya is facilitated bilingually (Khmer & English), we accept learners holding Cambodian nationality, as well as learners from Khmer and English speaking families.

4. Siblings Attending Bambujaya Bilingual School

Priority is given to learners who have siblings at Bambujaya. Should a class be full when a child with siblings at Bambujaya is registered, the child will be placed at the top of the waiting list for that class. They will be offered an interview for the next available space.

5. Special Requirements

We are a non-selective school and aim to accept all learners regardless of their race, religion or gender. However, if we feel we are unable to cater for a child’s additional needs because of Bambujaya’s physical limitations or other considerations such as staffing, we will discuss this with families.

6. Khmer/English Language Proficiency

The languages of instruction at Bambujaya are Khmer & English. All children registering who are over the age of four will be expected to undertake a brief assessment to determine their level of both Khmer and English language proficiency.
